Any link between stoicism and subclub?

Hi guys,

Is it really true, does emperor house of Medici have stoicism suggestions in it? Why does it have emperor in the title?

I view the stoic as someone who is calm and without emotion. They don’t show what they are feeling. Like an statue, someone that is unemotional unexpressive. This doesn’t feel right to me or for me.

Also can we run PPC with HOM?

Not sure about Medici but Elixir Ultima helps me with that

We cannot really say if it has “stoic scripting”, as we cant see the script, but it does make you think more logically in certain areas of life, if not all.

Stoics are not emotionless or unemotional. The practice of stoicism is about emotional control, logical thinking, mindful living.

Emotions can either control you, or you can control your emotions.

What’s better,huh?

Why not?

Thanks for the replies, initially I wrote a reply discussing it more, but then I realized, I don’t want to offend someone’s philosophy … might be better if I would just talk about myself. I am not drawn to the philosophy and I wouldn’t want the sub turn me into a stoic (again no offence just not my cup of tea).

@Fire @SaintSovereign could you please clarify?

The subs will generally work with your preferences,
something like Sanguine will make you positive and self trusting, and imperturbable in situations, some may view or express this stoically while others may not.

Certain subs will have specific effects that seem to be at least somewhat universal, like Emperor will make you generally less likely to be highly empathetic unless your consciously and intentionally doing it etc.

In the sales page for Alchemist it says

“Since Awakenings can be rough at times, the subliminal will help you develop your inner peace. While some disciplines might feel put off by the idea of inner peace, remember that inner peace does not mean unable to take action or to feel emotion. Inner peace means becoming the master over your emotions and being a unified being, allowing yourself to accept your darkest and lightest parts as simply… being you.”

This has me imagine the scripting has an understanding of not cutting off emotions or becoming numb to them.

My forays into stoicism have been limited (so far) to reading Ryan Holiday’s books, but so far I like what I see. Though not striving for stoicism as a specific goal, one of my goals is to achieve a mindset of happy equanimity, a state of being “unf*ckwithable” but with a playful twist, if that makes sense.

I don’t think a sub, any sub, can make you behave in a way you don’t want to. That’s also why the SC subs can be used together, so you can emphasize or diminish an aspect of any program. If you’re concerned that Emperor or Emperor:HoM would inhibit emotions, then pairing either one with something like True Social or Daredevil might be a good option. Personally, I love Sanguine for how it makes me feel, and I wouldn’t run any alpha sub without it.

Subclub’s subliminal will only guide you, your mind will, decide the path you, want to choose to attain the objective

You won’t be turned into a stoic by subs, but like @Azriel said, subs have tendency to push you toward certain direction, like emperor will usually make you want to work and make you less empathic, Khan will make you want to socialise and make you want to talk to girls, power can corrupt is meant to make you aware of the power dynamics, etc.

Subs will not force you to take a path or another, but they will accentuate or push certain part of your subconsious.

I’m not sure how to answer this question. Are there stoic elements to it? Yes. Will it make you emotionless? No. Will it make you immune to people’s BS? Yes. Also, as @pakr93 said, stoicism is not about having no emotions, it’s about being in control of your emotions as opposed to letting them (or others) control you. If that’s something you don’t want, you should avoid any of our personal power titles.
