I guess it is a different database. Discourse is using PostgreSQL, the rest is using MySQL. The MySQL server is probably down.

Stop overreacting, everyone. Site is back up. 
We’re investigating what happened. Either a lame DDOS conducted while we were sleep (easy to overcome, we’ll just switch everything to Cloudflare – which the forum already uses) or the insanely increased amount of visitors just overwhelmed the current server setup.
If there were ever a longterm issue, we’d send out an email with information, as well as quickly setup a blog somewhere with updates.
