PizzaShaman’s journal - Ongoing

If it’s like sitting on a mountain top and noticing a train wreck is about to happen, I sympathize.

Late night:

My coding project…I can’t believe it. I just had a packet finish with no repairs.

The first new packet on the proper path after a massive detour; it slipped in with no problems.

Almost seems suspicious but I manually verified it myself!

If you don’t mind me asking, how’re you today?

Today? I’m alright. Just got up a short while ago. I have a sinus headache.

The family cat of 15 years died about two weeks ago. I miss the little guy. I wish I could process things normally, but I do not. I will likely have lingering episodes of sadness for him for a long time.

His passing initiated this recent episode with my oldest daughter started again. I had debated informing her, but the singular older gentleman I speak with for advice suggested taking the high road.

Here we are.

My wife is still upset. We handle the Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria differently. In this instance, how I process things is useful. I’m not all bound up in feelings because we have been rejected by our daughter. I’m not dismissing my wife’s experience; it’s just not mine.

Father in Law found out this past weekend of our side of things. He had been supporting our daughter, because he hadn’t talked to us once.

Now he’s “taking action”.

He had them over for dinner a few days ago; had his brother speak with them.

One tidbit that got back to me: When FiL’s brother asked them why they weren’t honoring my daughter’s parents wishes on this, you know, “honor thy mother and father”, the young man replied that, “Well, PizzaShaman is not Christian, so…”

Apparently FiL’s brother gave him a hard rebuke, but it matters not.

I will not fill this space with all my thoughts on that.

I do despise false piety.

One more thing that was confirmed: the wedding is being hurried because the young man wants to have sex and not feel conflicted with his faith about it.

How the FUCK am I EVER supposed to respect that, or him?

You have been navigating this situation as just as you can. You are strong and have been doing your best, regardless of what anyone or anything says.

Please continue to be you and never neglect taking care of yourself.

I also want you to know that you have my best wishes.

First of all, I’m sorry for your loss - a pet you’ve had for years is family; take the time you need to process and mourn; know that the people commenting here are rooting for you.

Perhaps I’m misinterpreting this part (so I sincerely apologize if I am), but if you haven’t told her the cat has passed away, please do.

I’m assuming she grew up with that cat, thus deserves the right to say goodbye and mourn in her own way respectively. Her not knowing would be a massive moral breach if she loved the cat at all.

If you don’t want to tell her directly, definitely have someone else do it.

Fear not. She was the first one I informed that morning of his passing.

Yes, I had debated it. Back and forth in my brain. Perhaps that sounds bad.

I (generally) treat people the way they treat me. Daughter #1 treats the family poorly.

Why should I (repeatedly) show kindness and grace to one who does not offer it in return?

Well. I disagree with “deserves the right” and “massive moral breach”. That implies some sort of family structure; obligation and agreement.

Dreamingheroes - in this most recent episode in my life, my daughter cast our family aside.

Again.

This time knowing the all information that my wife and I possess about that other family, which I have not shared here.

I know you mean well.

What are your plans for row-vember?

Psssh.

I was rowing 2x a week.

Then I broke my foot two days ago.

To be determined.

So I broke my foot 9/13. Nothing bad, but enough to gimp me for a bit.

It was a lesson in over application of force. One does not need to bring all force to bear on every problem. The precise application of force is a demonstration of mastery. (That sounds like some stuff from one of my customs; lol)

Heard, Universe. Heard.

I’m going to attempt a row on the 28th.

That may sound soon, but…

I’m still working full time; no breaks or days off. I got an AirCast boot and was told to take Extra Strength Tylenol. Thanks Doc.

So I figure attempting a light row to feel it out after 2 weeks is reasonable. I do not want to start Rowvember from not rowing at all. No sir. I am highly irritated at the break I am having to take right now, but it is necessary.

I went to old reliable and have added playtime of my ZPMT Paragon + Epigenetics & DNA module for pain relief. It works.
