Phone speakers with masked

For those that listen to ZP masked via phone speakers, what volume do you use?

I must admit I’m a bit sceptical of this method, because I don’t see how the faint script hidden behind the water sounds can still be heard and recognised by the subconscious.

There is a reason I want to break from headphones for a while at least, and I would prefer not to use ultrasonic at this point.

Can I be guaranteed to still receive the script this way?

Is it better to be on a higher volume since it is not directly over the ears and the phone will be resting on a couch that I am sitting on.

And am I going to get the full ZP effect?

As long as you can hear the mask at a comfortable volume, you’re fine.

Saint has alluded before that the subs here aren’t quite just slapping a mask on top of sub content.

My wife uses her phone speakers with positive and good results.

However I must admit since I started using proper headphones my results are better.

In otter words. Regular speakers do fine. If you want to maximize use good speakers.

I almost exclusively use headphones, mainly because the titles I listen to wouldn’t go over well with her hearing them.

I do use speakers if I run something in my car when I’m solo. My car speakers sound great with subs.

Can you use one speaker, such as a Sonos Roam, or must it be two speakers?

The subs don’t require stereo separation. Should be ok.

I should have also asked, is there a particular frequency range required for masked?

0hz-20KHz. Most decent headphones and earbuds can do that.

My phone speaker has 20hz-20khz.

My Sonos Roam has 60hz-20khz.

Sonos Move has 60hz-20khz.

Are all of these ok for masked then as these don’t go as low frequency, particularly on the Sonos, but all appear to be fine for ultrasonic.

I just don’t want to use these methods if I could be missing some subliminal input potentially.

Giving headphones a break for a while. It will be an interesting comparison.

Does masked however require an even lower frequency response than what my Sonos portable speakers can produce?

They should all work. I typoed by saying 0Hz for the low end. spoken voices are higher than 60Hz (with the exception of the really deep singers), so all 3 should work. Just make sure they aren’t using any weird audio-“enhancing” modes, as those can distort audio.
