Hey @SaintSovereign
Wonder if you could put my mind at rest about something?
We’ve touched on this already, but I guess I’m kind of covering a different angle here.
Here’s a response I got from Support regarding DR: Regeneration:
"DR: Regeneration is explicitly designed to shift your nervous system into a parasympathetic (rest/digest/heal) state. This is intentional – deep healing happens when you’re relaxed, not when you’re in action mode.
The titles you mentioned (Hero: TLTB – Earth/Fire, Spartan, Wanted, Diamond, Emperor) are designed to help you take action, build energy, perform, and engage with the world. These require a more sympathetic (active/alert) nervous system state.
When you run both simultaneously, you’re essentially asking your nervous system to be in two opposing states at once – rest AND action. This creates conflict and, as you’ve experienced, the result is often that neither works optimally."
I’ve seen you talk about Summertime being/feeling different than DR: Regeneration, but what I’m wondering about is if Summertime is also “designed to shift your nervous system into a parasympathetic (rest/digest/heal) state”, then how would it not have a similar deadening effect on action taking scripting?
I don’t mean this at all in a critical or challenging way; I’m just confused about this point and seeking understanding!
Like right now, I’m running Emperor: Executive and RICH and have a need to take action and want to have that drive to do so.
But on the other hand, Summertime looks wonderful, and what I’m longing for in my stack is a kind of ‘Synergy: Carpe Vitam’ style combo, where I’m driven, disciplined and hard-working, but it’s not a joyless slog that makes it a struggle to start/maintain action-taking; instead I want to feel like I’m loving my life and enjoying the work, including all the challenges that throws up too
Because it isn’t the nervous system regulation that conflicts with a physically demanding sub. It’s the scripting that draws you deeper inward for emotional processing. Those two together create a very, very deep inward state, and that’s what causes the potential conflict (which may not even exist, just theoretically).
Nervous system regulation on its own should not cause an issue – in some people, hard workouts actually act as regulation. It’s when you mix the deep inner spa effect (which encompasses the healing) AND nervous system regulation that we’re looking at an issue.
Summertime has nervous system regulation, but also has a “present moment” focus rather than drawing you deep within, you end up in the “now,” while still experiencing its effects. Thus, there’s no concern for any kind of sedative effect. Calm does not mean tired or sleepy. It simply means, “at rest.” Willing and ready to engage in the moment as freely as possible.
@Layman . I know your question is directed at Saint, and I certainly want to hear his explanation, but I can assure you of this from years of therapy and something I’ve been striving for, a HEALTHY mind and parasympathetic system can and SHOULD be able to oscillate between those states you mention as needed, with very little to no bleedover.
That’s the rub, in this day and age very few of us have a healthy mind and parasympathetic system, especially those who live in mid-sized to large cities (about 90% of the population).
I’d love to hear Saint’s response. (edit, never mind, Saint just responded above)
Let us move the discussion to the official thread:
i can only tell you no
i can only tell you now
but the summertime calls my name
and it’ll never be the same
when the summertime fades away
