I want to start a career

Goal: Build a sustainable career over the next 3 years that gets me to around €3k net/month without burning myself out in the process.

I’m 36, have an Engineering Master’s degree and ADHD, but have been away from engineering/work for quite some time due to health reasons. My biggest challenge right now is rebuilding confidence in my professional abilities and learning how to work consistently without falling into hyperfocus and burning myself out.

Burnout is not a hypothetical concern for me, but a serious constraint I have to design my working life around. A career strategy that gets me to my goal by overriding my limits would ultimately defeat the purpose.

My current idea is to start very gradually: create my own structured workweek, work on tangible engineering/software projects to rebuild my skills and portfolio, then move into part-time employment and take it from there.

An important part of the goal is learning to separate work, hobbies and rest. I don’t just want more drive. I want to learn how to work toward a concrete goal, stop working in the evening, have actual weekends, and build a career around a nervous system that needs more recovery than average.

I’ve run Emperor Daddy for 2–3 months some years ago and really liked the groundedness. It was probably one of the easiest subs I’ve ever run. However, at the time most of that energy went into introspection and journaling rather than building something tangible.

This time I want the emphasis to be much more external: build things, regain confidence through actual competence, understand what the market needs, and gradually turn that into a career.

At the same time, I don’t think simply adding more PUSH is the answer. I want sustainable ambition rather than forcing myself through resistance.

So I’m currently considering:

  • Emperor Daddy again
  • Genesis: Ascended
  • Emperor
  • Stark
  • Limitless

Has anyone used these specifically for rebuilding a career after being out of the workforce for a while?

I’d like to keep the stack very simple and preferably start with one title rather than overload myself.

Peace and emperor executive
Or
Peace and Genesis ascension

Why Peace? I feel like I dont need help coming back, but rather help starting things and pulling things through.
Whats your Idea behind it?

I say peace because as I read your post, it said you had troubles with burnout from dedicating long hours to your craft. Correct me if I’m wrong but this tells me you’re probably a perfectionist. I have the pattern of overworking and going 100% all the time and it gets tiresome.

So I feel like peace will complement and sub you want for external action.

Nah, its more of an ADHD/Autistic Burnout thing…couldnt feel my body and was never able to rest and regulate…now that i am in my body and resting…its hard to get started again

My perfectionism im more coming in as procrastination and not being able to see my own achievements

I think peace tackles this

Peace is fantastic for ADHD management. It helps cut through mental clutter to realign with goals throughout the day. It also helps manage burn out.

For your goals though, go with Stark and Limitless as your ‘core’ stack. Though wre they two you should invest in long term.

From I’d consider Peace, Emperor Executive or Rich. Rich is strong career and income builder especially if you run it long term

Edit: Stark with Limitless Executive is a good too

I haven’t run any of those but as a fellow potential audhd burnout I sympathize.

My vote goes to stark. It’s creative, flexible, and has entrepreneur spirit. It seems like it would mesh well with your desire to avoid things that push too hard.

Potentially paired with RoW to help you find your own path that works for you on your terms and to not fall into burnout again. Let’s be real companies eat that up and exploit it. So I think setting your own guidelines is really really important

I’d recommend Mogul + PEACE for your goals.

If you are only considering the ones you mentioned, then I’d probably do Genesis Ascension and then switch to Stark once it’s updated

I’d highly recommend Peace if burnout is a concern though. Reading all the reports, it seems like it’s a great idea for burnouts:
