How do you listen to your subliminals?

No option to switch both off?

Aware pushes the outside noise through?

Like I said guys, I don’t know if noise canceling is a problem, I just guessed it could be 3 years ago and haven’t questioned it. :man_shrugging:

It’s fine :+1:

No, Aware mode on headphones or earbuds like those from Bose, is not the same as having noise cancellation completely off Aware mode is designed to allow you to hear your surroundings while still playing audio, but it does so by actively using the headphones’ microphones to pick up ambient sound and feed it into your ears This is different from having no noise cancellation where the headphones would simply rely on physical isolation and not actively process external sounds

The ones I’ve had (Sony, B&O and what else) all had a third mode, where both aware and noise cancelling are switched off.

*Any old stereo headphones will work. Obviously, if it’s a 5 dollar pair of Skull Candy’s from Walmart, results might suffer.
*Better headphones, might equal better results as there is less audio distortion.
*Several people exclusively use Bluetooth headphones and have been fine.
*Some people use stereo speakers.
*Some people use noise canceling, some don’t.
*Wired headphones might be better.
*For due diligence make sure your headphones range supports 20k hz + (in case you wanna try ultra sonic.)
*Saint used to use Airpods, clearly he’s doing fine.

Summary: if money is no object, then get the nicest pair of wired stereo headphones (without active noise canceling) you can find, and you’ll be right as rain.

Theoretically, noise cancellation could alter the audio, especially ultrasonic due to the way noise cancellation works. However, I have used transparency mode with my Airpods and had no issue. That being said, if you can easily turn off the noise cancelation while listening, if you want to be absolutely sure, turn it off. In the mean time, test with it on and see if you get results.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra doesn’t have a real OFF mode for noise cancellation like that

Aware Mode (transparency) still keeps partial ANC on with ActiveSense smoothing loud sounds

Even if I create a custom mode and lower ANC to minimum it’s not truly raw OFF Bose always runs some processing

So I can’t 100% ‘turn it off’ like you’re suggesting it’s either full ANC full transparency with partial ANC or custom low ANC but never pure off

That’s the design of Bose Ultra line it’s not like AirPods Pro transparency or old passive headphones
