The results are in for the group stage. Here’s a recap:
Group A had a lot of popular candidates but with Alchemist, Ascension Chamber and Diamond splitting the votes, it was Love Bomb for Humanity that cleared the group with ease.
Group B was a battle of the titans, a matchup that could just as easily have been the final. It was Emperor however, that beat Stark by a 5-vote margin, and moves on to the knockout rounds.
Group C was settled from the very being: to absolutely no one’s surprise, WANTED dominated while earning more votes than any other sub in the tournament.
Group D was a battle between the old veteran and the new prodigy, but it was Emperor Black that ultimately defeated Ascended Mogul by a clear margin.
Group E was this World Cup year’s ‘group of death’. With 5 potential candidates, the winner of this group was a 2-way tie between Godlike Masculinity and Quantum Limitless. However with the tiebreaker rules in effect, GLM progresses by the skin of its teeth.
Group F featured a close fight for 2nd place between Paragon and HOM, but Khan was king of this group.
Group G was an extremely close 3-way battle between Dragon Reborn, Mind’s Eye and Power Can Corrupt. Only a 1 vote margin was enough to separate each contender, but it was Dragon Reborn that barely advances to the knockout stages.
And finally, we have Group H. Yet another close battle, but it was The Commander that narrowly defeats Spartan in the end.
And now for what you’ve all been waiting for, here are the quarter-finals. These will be head-to-head matchups. The seeding was determined by the number of voters for each sub from the group stage, with seed 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, etc.
